Hugh Jackman’s “The Music Man” will remain on Broadway longer

Big Yellowstone dude Luke Bryan.

Luke Bryan will be appearing with Peyton & Eli on the Monday before Yellowstone Season 5 premieres on November 13, so I was reminded of this comment from 2020.

Luke experimented with the notion of writing some cowboy music that was inspired by Yellowstone when the Los Angeles Times asked him what would be “unexpected” from him right now.

“I absolutely enjoy ‘Yellowstone,’ and the soundtrack is Texas-style cowboy music. Since I’m not a cowboy, it makes me wonder how I might create a cowboy song with a truly vintage vibe that doesn’t only consist of drums, bass, guitar, and steel guitar.
If you’ve watched the programme, you’ll understand precisely what Luke means. Some of the musicians you’ll frequently hear on the show are Tyler Childers, Whiskey Myers (who made a guest appearance), Sturgill Simpson, Colter Wall, Turnpike Troubadours, Chris Stapleton, Blackberry Smoke, and Ryan Bingham (the show’s headliner).

Are they all from Texas? No, but I get what Luke is trying to say. It’s authentic country music, and anytime a big-name artist like Luke says authentic country music inspires him (as opposed to the usual Nashville pop-country dreck), it’s definitely a positive sign for the genre.

Obviously, this is just a hypothetical question, but if Luke wants to embrace the Texas country or the cowboy country sound, as he put it, I guess I’ll accept anything that moves the needle back towards the conventional. Now, execution may be quite different…

And he did make a statement about some Duran Duran, synth-style songs from the 1980s… Nobody actually knows what they want to accomplish, then.

On November 9, Luke Bryan and Peyton Manning will co-host the CMA Awards, and you can bet your bottom dollar that we’ll be live-tweeting the event.
